Renault, the French automaker, is all set to launch the much-awaited Lodgy MPV in the Indian car market. It is expected that the vehicle would go on sale by the end of this month or early next month. The MPV will rival against the likes of Honda Mobilio, Nissan Evalia, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova and the upcoming Chevrolet Spin. The Lodgy MPV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 7.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh.
The Renault Lodgy is powered by a VGT-equipped 1,461cc diesel engine that offers two states of tunes - 110PS & 245Nm and 85PS & 200Nm. While the former is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox, the later is mated to a five-speed unit. The lower-spec engine is will return an excellent ARAI-certified fuel economy of 21.04kmpl, while the 110PS model returns 19.98kmpl of mileage.
The Renault Lodgy MPV shares its interior components with the Duster SUV. The top-spec model is equipped with an advanced infotainment system comprising of MEDIANAV system, Bluetooth, USB, navigation and communication functions. The car will be available in both seven and eight seat options. The car features Fume & Beige Alpaga leather upholstery, cruise control, speed limited, air con vents for 2nd and 3rd row, etc. On safety and security front, the Lodgy MPV has reverse parking sensors, reverse camera, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and dual front airbags.
Dimensionally, the Lodgy MPV is 4,498mm long, 1,751mm wide, 1,697mm tall and has a large wheelbase of 2,810mm. The car offers an excellent boot space of 275-litres when all seats are in place. The boot space can be increased up to 1,861-litres by folding the rear seats. It weighs 1,368kgs and its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 15-inch alloys.
Talkig about the suspension set up, the vehicle gets McPherson strut with coil spring, and anti rollbar at the front and torsion beam axle with coil spring and shock absorber and anti rollbar at the rear.
