About Renault Lodgy

Renault Lodgy has 7 versions available in India from which 7 are diesel cars. Renault Lodgy comes in 6 colours, namely, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Pearl White, Planet Grey, Royal Orchid, Slate Grey.

The Renault Lodgy is everything a modern people carrier needs to be. It is light, has a frugal engine with enough power and seats seven or eight depending upon which trim you choose. The last row can seat adults and still has a bit of space for some luggage. It has almost everything including typical French quirks.

Lodgy competes with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Mahindra Xylo with its pricing. While it is bigger than the Ertiga in terms of space and size, it is much more premium as compared to the Enjoy. The Xylo is almost defunct and the Lodgy is quite modern compared to the old-school MPV. It was a cost competitive option to the Innova as well, offering similar space to the car buyers.

The 1461 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 18 kmpl in city and 20 kmpl on highways.

The MPV is claimed to offer the most spacious and practical interior in its league. It is available in both the seven-seater and eight-seater options, the 7-seater offers comfortable captain seats for 2nd row occupants. Most of the equipment is borrowed from the Duster such as inside door handles, circular air vents, gear knob, AC switches, three-spoke steering etc. The centre console with chrome inserts and piano black finish and new beige Alpaga quilted leather upholstery add more to its interior appeal. With adequate cushioning and good thigh, back and head support, the front seats feel comfortable. The MPV comes loaded with plenty of entertainment and comfort-enhancing features such as Media-nav system with 7-inches touchscreen, USB, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking camera, parking sensors, 12V charging sockets and many more.

The international model of the MPV, with standard 6 airbags protection, has achieved three-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. But, the Indian-spec model is offered with dual front airbags. It also features ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) with brake assist, side impact protection beams, engine immobilizer, cruise control with a speed limiter, three-point ELR seatbelts and various other safety features.

The MPV shares the platform with the Duster. The exterior styling is conventional and plain, but it doesn’t appear dull. The front-end features detailed grille with lots of chrome and a Renault badge, large headlamps, day time running lights, integrated fog lamps, black bumper and some chrome accents. The MPV has the longest wheelbase in its segment, which is quite evident from the side profile. It gets chrome on lower half of the door mouldings and 15-inches, 5-spoke alloys. The rear profile, too, has neat and simple design. It sports thick chrome strip, tailgate, tail lights and chrome embellishments.

The MPV shares its engine with the Renault Duster, as it features the same 1.5-litre, K9K diesel engine. Just like the Duster, the engine is available in two states of tunes - 85PS (84bhp) and 110PS (108.5bhp). The 108.5bhp variant is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 84bhp version comes with a 5-speed transmission.

Renault Lodgy First Drive If a long vacation is around the corner, we all haste in finishing our mundane tasks to finally relish the freedom from work and responsibilities. You would not want to take your sedan as it has a boot but no space for people, not a hatch for sure as it can go fast but not practical. Enter the MPV class, a saviour for the middle-aged family lover, who likes to snug in with everyone once in a while. Renault, the ones who originally introduced the MPV type, is here with a brand new offering - The Lodgy. They are not directly targeting the Big Daddy of MPVs, Toyota Innova, but are sure to create a minor dent in its sales. It is the Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki Ert.... Read More
