The SUNNY was already dubbed as Nissan`s global car before its launch. Nissan had officially launched the Sunny on 3rd August, 2011 in Mumbai. It’s the tenth generation model of the SUNNY in India. Nissan, though had set its foot in India some 7-odd years back with the X-Trail and Teana, came in an aggressive stance with the MICRA-hatch. The retro styled MICRA got a fresh trend in the Indian auto market with its looks. I am not a big MICRA fan though. Somehow, those headlights clubbed with the overall design don’t impress me much. When Nissan announced they are going ahead with a car based on the MICRA`s V-platform, I had a pre conceived notion about its look-n feel. We all know how different Suzuki Dzire, Toyota Etios and Volkswagen Vento look compared to their hatched siblings.
I believe the design of Nissan cars don’t get you at the very first impression though they do grow on you slowly. I am talking of the Indian cars by Nissan, so please don’t consider my stand for the Nissan Skyline, 370Z`s and GT-R`s.
Now, coming back to the SUNDRIVE event, we were invited by Nissan for the Nissan SUNDRIVE 2011, an event which was mainly organized to give us a dekho of the car in flesh. Radisson Blu, Chennai was the location chosen for the event. Great climate, picturesque locations and yes good food too. We drove the all new Nissan Sunny to and from from Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry, an 87kms drive. The road on this route is truly worth some good motoring.
I am sure many of you are waiting for the review of the all new tenth generation Nissan SUNNY. What features does it have, what’s it like to drive? How is the handling? How different does it look from the same V-platform based MICRA? Kitna deti hai? And most importantly the price? :) For all of that and more, you have to wait for some days. So that you can sip in some coffee and peacefully read the detailed review.
