      Renault India to launch 3 new cars by next year

      Renault India, the Indian unit of the France based leading car maker Renault, said on Thursday that it would be launching three new car models in the Indian market by the end of year 2012. This will take the total count of the Renault’s India portfolio vehicles to five by next year.

      These upcoming Renault cars will include an India bound small car that will be launched in the country by the end of current year, a mini SUV ‘Duster’ that will be launched in the second quarter of next year, and a mid-size sedan that will be rolled-out by the end of next year. As per a senior official of the company, these launches will be part of company’s plans of rolling-out three new car models in the Indian market by year 2012.

      It is to be mentioned here that Renault India has already entered the premium segment cars in the country with its premium sedan Fluence and luxury sports utility vehicle Koleos. The Fluence model was launched in the country a few months back and it is competing with the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Laura. On the other hand, Koleos SUV was launched in the country last week and it is competing with Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva, etc.

      Besides launching new car models in the Indian market, the company is also looking forward to expand its dealership network in the Indian market. At present, Renault India has 14 dealerships in the country, and it plans to enhance the number of its dealerships to 40 by the end of this year. Next year, the company will be taking its dealership network to 100 dealers.
