2011 Nissan Sunny Review : In the Nissan Sunny under the SUN We were invited by Nissan for their “NISSAN SUNDRIVE” in Chennai. The location chosen for this event was Radisson Blu, Mahabalipuram. The reason for this event was that Nissan wanted to give us a dekho and samjho of their all new mid size sedan, the 2011 Nissan Sunny. Personally, I am not a big fan of how Nissan cars look in India. The X-trail, the Teana or the retro styled Micra hatch never get my attention. Specially, the Micra hatch with those weirdly designed big headlights clubbed with the weird rear which some think is cute. Now when we got the invites for driving a sedan based on Micra`s platform, one can und.... Read More

About Nissan Sunny

Nissan Sunny, a Sedan has 7 versions available in India. Sunny has 3 Petrol cars and 4 Diesel cars. Nissan Sunny comes in 6 colours, namely, Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Night Shade, Onyx Black, Pearl White, Sandstone Brown.

The Nissan Sunny, launched in 2011, was one of the best-selling Nissan cars in India. However with the increasing competition in the segment, its sales started falling gradually. Therefore, Nissan introduced its facelift with major exterior and interior updates in 2014. The facelifted model gets new signature boomerang shaped headlights, modified front and rear bumpersand other styling changes. The cabin, too, is up-market with all black theme, new centre console with piano black finishing, greige upholstery, new sporty steering with audio controls and hands-free phone function, automatic aircon and few more features. The engines however remained unchanged; it continued to feature the same 84.8bhp, 1.5-litre petrol and 97.7bhp, 1.5-litre diesel powertrains. A 5-speed manual transmission and a new X-Tronic CVT gearbox are on offer.

The Sunny is one of the most fuel efficient Nissan cars in India. Its diesel trim delivers an impressive fuel economy of 22kmpl, while the petrol-powered manual and CVT versions offer a maximum mileage of 16kmpl and 17kmpl, respectively.

xThe all black interior with new centre console with piano black finishing, greige (grey + beige) fabric upholstery, multi-information display with white lighting and new sporty steering with audio controls and hands-free phone function enhance its interior appearance and comfort-level. The other changes include rear reading light, reverse parking camera, automatic aircon, keyless flagship and push button start.

The new model looks quite different from the old model with new signature boomerang shaped headlights, modified front and rear bumper, chromed grille, new fog lamps, new Y-design alloys/ wheel caps, ORVM with integrated turn indicators and antenna on the rear of the roof. The sedan is now available in a new black exterior paint option that appears purple in sunlight.

The updated model is available with same petrol and diesel engine options that were on offer with the old model. The 1.5-litre, DOHC petrol engine develops a maximum power of 97.7bhp with 134Nm of a peak torque. Whereas the 1.5-litre, K9K, SOHC, diesel engine develops 84.8bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the new X-Tronic CVT transmission is offered only with the diesel variant. The sedan offers a composed and smooth ride. However, its drive isn’t engaging.
