Toyota had stated it is looking at introducing a compact SUV under Rs 10 lakhs in the Indian car market and at the same time it is also testing a premium sedan that will be hovering at a similar price range. This new compact SUV from Toyota will be coming to India as a compact SUV (sub four-metres) for the five-seater and there is also likely to be a seven-seater version too.

      Toyota Rush

The Toyota Rush is branded as Daihatsu in several markets and it powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. For the Indian car market, it could get the 1.4-litre D-4D engine with 87bhp of power and six-speed manual transmission. The Toyota Rush will come loaded with features like keyless entry, push start and stop, in-dash touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera, dual airbags and ABS.

Toyota Rush is a strong contender for this segment and it can compete with the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio if its plans to get both five and seven-seater versions. Toyota has been a strong player with UVs in India, be it the Qualis, Innova or the Fortuner. With the existing Toyota reputation in India, Toyota will have an upper hand over the existing competition. The company is due to launch a new compact SUV by 2017 and mostly it will be the new Rush. At the moment, The Japanese automotive manufacturer is investing in manufacturing more engines in its Karnataka plant.
