Across the world, Land Rover Discovery has been a popular choice in the SUV segment. Sources have now revealed that the company has been working on final developmental stages for the fifth-generation Discovery model. The vehicle gets a sleeker design than the older model, while the interiors have got a richer feel.

The upcoming model is believed to be powered by an updated 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine that currently serves existing Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Sources have also indicated that futuristic cars could also be offered with mild hybrid systems in current four-cylinder form. Back in April last year Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern was quoted as saying, “very important in terms of being a benchmark for new-generation Discovery models: the versatility of the car, the seats, the reconfigurability, how you use it inside.”

The newer model would also be lighter than the current generation and be technologically advanced. The SUV gets a laser scanning system that enables easy suspension and transmission adjustment based on the road ahead. The vehicle’s off-roading ability would continue to impress along with the fresh set of appeal to the vehicle.
