The Tata Tigor XM variant has been launched and is priced at Rs 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It’s a second-level trim in the Tigor hierarchy and costs Rs 40,000 more than the equivalent XE entry-level variant.

This variant gets all the features of the XE variant, with an additional package comprising of full wheel covers, follow me home head lamps, central locking, LED fuel gauge internally adjustable ORVMs and a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth connectivity as well as mobile connectivity.

The petrol variant is a 1.2-litre unit producing 84 bhp/114 Nm while the diesel is a 1.05-litre three-pot producing 69 bhp/140 Nm. Both units are only offered with a five-speed manual but we believe that an AMT option is on the cards soon.

Before the introduction of this XM variant, the price gap between the entry-level XE and mid-level XT was Rs 70,000. This kind of price difference is pretty huge in this part of the market. This second level variant bridges the gap in terms of price across both diesel and petrol engine options.

In the petrol option, this variant rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Wagon R in the VXI variants while the diesel take on the Ignis, Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 in their second level variants.
