Tata Motors have announced that the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship will be held on March 20 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The event is its third edition this year.

Similar to the championships organised earlier, this season will also include experienced international drivers to race in Tata Prima trucks. They will compete against each other in six teams and 12 race-spec trucks. Apart from this, this year, for the first time, Tata Motors has also organised a race for Indian truck drivers to participate. These 12 participants will be selected from a pool of truck drivers who are employed with Tata Motors' key customers across India.

Thus, there will be two categories on the race day - Super Class and Pro Class. The former category will include the Indian race truck drivers and the latter comprises of internationally acclaimed drivers.

The international drivers are experts in the sport of truck racing, like the British Truck Racing and European Truck Racing championships. They have been specially invited by Tata Motors to display their racing skills. They will also show what the race-spec trucks specially developed by Tata are capable of on the race track.

Ravindra Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, said, "We at Tata Motors are delighted to host season III of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, a much-awaited calendar event and one of the most pioneering in the country's commercial vehicle industry and India's motorsports history. Ever since it was first introduced in 2014, T1 has proved to be a great platform to showcase the prowess of the Indian commercial vehicles industry and that of Tata Motors, and Season III presents us with a great opportunity to launch our next big initiative – Indian Race Truck drivers."
