Tata Motors has been one of the leading player in the Indian automotive sector. The company has also been a major supplier of Armour vehicles for the defense sector. Collaboration of Tata Motors with Indian armed forces dates back to 1958, wherein it had been delivering light, heavy and other vehicles to the defense sectors. The group has reportedy witnessed a rise in demand for armored vehicles for the defense sector in recent times.
Tata Motors has stated that they have received an order of about 585 Minusma vehicles from the United Nations (UN) to support their mission in North and East Africa. The Minusma vehicle is capable of traversing through deserts and hauling weapons. Speaking more the occasion, A B Lall, plant head of the Jamshedpur unit of Tata Motors, said, “We have successfully tested the vehicles meant for defense sector. We only need some time to complete more tests required for standard and quality. We are in the process of producing different variants of the vehicle, capable of carrying weapons and traveling in deserts.”
