Suzuki will unveil the iM-4 SUV concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Alongside the YRA premium hatchback (iK-2 Concept), the iM-4 SUV will be unveiled on March 3, 2015. It will preview the company’s upcoming YBA compact SUV.
In a statement, Suzuki said that “The iM-4 is an iconic mini 4x4 developed with a concept theme of “Shape the Inspiration”. It is an all-new proposal from Suzuki, packed with its compact 4x4 DNA and new technologies as well as distinctive styling that will give real inspiration to drivers.”
Going by the teaser image, it is visible that the concept comes under 4 metre length. The sub-4 metre SUV will be eligible to avail excise benefits on sub-4 metre cars offered in India by government. It will rival against the likes of Ford EcoSport and upcoming compact SUVs from Tata Motors, Mahindra and Nissan.
The YBA compact SUV is based on the Swift platform, and has already started testing on Indian roads. It is expected to be launched by the early next year at 2016 Indian Auto Expo. It will share its components with Swift and Dzire to keep its cost down. To be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options, the YBA compact SUV is expected to offer high fuel efficiency and performance. While the oil burner is the new 1.5-litre diesel engine, the petrol engines are expected to be 1.2-litre K-Series or a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
