Hyundai’s much-awaited compact SUV, the ix25, that is already on sale in China, will make its way to India during the festive season. Beofore the ix25, the company will launch the updated Verna and the i20 based crossover in the country. The Hyundai ix25 will take on the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and other upcoming compact SUVs from Mahindra, Maruti, Tata and others.
The ix25 is expected to be built upon the same platform on which the new i20 too is built. Taking its design inspiration from the new Santa Fe, the ix25 will be based on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0.
Powering the vehicle might be a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine that also power the Hyundai Verna. Hyundai's compact SUV will be offered in both manual and automatic transmission options.
In a recent interview, Hyundai India's official said that to take on its competitors, the South Korean carmaker will price the ix25 very competitively. Though he didn't reveal the exact price point, we believe that it should be between Rs 6.5 lakh - 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
