Suzuki, the Japanese car manufacturer, has announced two new concepts- a hatchback and a compact SUV. The company has teased both the models, which are scheduled to be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2015. The hatchback concept is named as the iK-2, which will preview the upcoming YRA premium hatchback.

In a statement, Suzuki said that “The iK-2 is an ideal compact sized car, developed with an innovative theme of “Harmonised Force”. By combining all of the key elements expected in a car of this size the new model raises compact car values to the limit.”

The iK-2, the YRA premium hatchback, will make its Indian debut in the second half of 2015. The premium hatch will be positioned above the Swift hatchback and will rival against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and soon-to-be launched Honda Jazz.

If reports are to be believed, the YRA premium hatchback will be around 90kg lighter than the Swift hatchback, which will make it more fuel efficient and high on performance. The hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the gasoline version will get the new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the oil burner is the tried & tested Fiat’s sourced 1.3-litre multi-jet engine. Both manual and automatic variants of the hatchback will be on offer.
