Czech auto giant, Skoda has released new details and images of the third generation Skoda Fabia. The company has outright dismissed possibility of launching premium hatchback in India and has made it clear that currently focus is on Rapid and segments above it.
2015 Fabia will be rolled out in two hatchback and Combi (station wagon) body styles in three trim levels viz; S, SE and Elegance and a total of eighteen variants.
On the feature front, the base model, S will come equipped with preeminent equipments such as 6 airbags, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, electric front windows, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, Anti-Lock-Braking system, MSR, ASR, EDS, HBA, height-adjustable driver seat, storage compartment under the front seats, tyre pressure monitoring system and remote central locking.
Engine line-up includes a set of four petrol and three diesel engines all taken from the new engine family and claimed to be 17 per cent more frugal than previous engines. Petrol engines outputting between 60 PS to 110 PS will be housed in the petrol variants, diesel engines engendering power ranging between 75 PS to 105 PS will be employed in diesel variants. A manual and a DSG automatic transmission will be put on offer with a start/stop and brake energy recovery systems equipped as a standard fare. A GreenLine diesel variant will also be launched next year that is vouched to return 32.25 kmpl of fuel economy and emit 82g/km of CO2 emissions.
