Launched last year in a new avatar, the new and improved Gurkha was not made available for sale for some undisclosed reasons. According to latest reports, the vehicle finally seems to be available for sale as bookings for new Gurkha have apparently commenced. It has been learnt from our close sources that dealers in New Delhi and Chennai have begun accepting bookings for the new Gurkha and are also offering test drives to the customers. Deliveries are likely to commence in the next few weeks. There is yet no confirmation on the further tweaks made to the vehicle, but since the vehicle was snapped undergoing test runs we have a fair idea as to what should be on offer. The vehicle is also expected to sport a couple of new features such as a tweaked transmission, smaller steering wheel, redesigned dashboard, improved AC vents and controls, new place for tachometer and new gear knob.
Power is likely to come from the same engine as seen in the previous model that is the BS3 compliant OM616, 2.6 litre engine. The engine is good for 82 PS of top power along with 230 Nm of peak torque. Chances of offering a BS4 compliant variant are bleak.
