      Renault Fluence, Fiat Linea and Honda City - A Comparative Study

      When you are looking for sedans, the Indian automobile market has plenty to offer, both in terms of numbers and variants. With so many companies making a foray in the segment of sedans, people often become spoilt for choice, when looking to purchase a sedan. That is when a comparative study yields the best results. Let us now see the vital aspects of three of the most popular sedans in India – Fiat Linea, Honda City and Renault Fluence.

      When it comes to the mill of these three cars, the displacement aspects are somewhat similar. The Fiat Linea is powered by a 1248 cc engine, which can generate a maximum power of 91.7 bhp at the rate 4000 rpm. The torque output for the sedan is 209 Nm at the rate of 2000 rpm. When it comes to Renault Fluence, this sedan runs on a 1461 cc mill, capable of churning out a maximum of 108.4 bhp power at the rate of 4000 rpm. Torque output for the car is 240 Nm at a reduced 1850 rpm. As far as the displacement is concerned, Honda City scores the maximum with a 1498 cc engine. The power generated from this mill is 98.6 bhp at the rate of 3600 rpm. Torque output is less as compared to Fluence with 200 Nm at the rate of 1750 rpm. All the models come with a Front-wheel Drive (FWD) option. Except the Fiat Linea, which uses a five-speed transmission system, both the cars come with a six speed gearbox.

      When it comes to the fuel tank capacity aspects, Fluence scores the most with a fuel tank capacity of 67 litres. This is undoubtedly, quite large, going by the standard sedan category. Fiat Linea has a modest 45 litre fuel-tank capacity, while Honda City has a 40 litre one. When it comes to mileage, Honda City offers an outstanding city mileage of 22 kilometres per litre. On highways, it goes up to 25.1 kilometres per litre. Fiat Linea and Renault Fluence are exactly at par with each other with a city mileage of 17.2 kilometres and a highway mileage of 20.4 kilometres for a litre for both models. Fiat Linea is the most affordable of the bunch with a price tag of 9.7 lakhs INR (approx.). Honda City is considerably placed at the middle with a tag of 11.1 lakhs INR, while Renault Fluence is highly placed at 15.5 lakhs INR.
