Nissan India has made an announcement that it will increase the price of its models from January 2015. The most important part of this announcement was that it will also increase the prices of its Datsun brand. Just like most other manufacturers, which has increased the price of their products citing the New Year, Nissan has also done the same saying the rising input costs played the most contributing aspect behind the hike. There will be a hike of as much as 2.5 per cent, which when converted comes to 18000 INR for Terrano, the most expensive car from Nissan. Apart from this increase, there will also be an increase of 3 per cent for Datsun Go top variant, which comes to around 11000 INR.

When Arun Malhotra, the Managing Director of Nissan India was contacted, he said, “We have increased prices due to rising input costs, although we are confident Nissan and Datsun vehicles will continue to offer excellent value and choice to our customers. Despite recent high inflation, the outlook for the Indian economy is positive.” The models of Nissan, which are sold in India, are Terrano, Evalia, Sunny, Micra, Micra Active and the Datsun Go. All these cars have carved out a significant niche in the Indian market and well-placed in their respective segments.

The Go+ model has not been launched yet, so its pricing will be according to the new price listing. This means that it would be priced some 11000 INR more than the current hatchback. On the flip side, this also means that December 2014 might just be the best month to buy a car, especially of Nissan, since the prices will never be this cheap from next month. Also, most manufacturers are running heavy discounts and heavy offers to meet their calendar targets.
