A test mule for the next generation Mercedes-Benz GLE Class has been spotted doing the rounds in Europe. Pictures reveal that the German automaker’s mid-level luxury SUV is in its early stages of testing thanks to the naked tail lamps and front grille.
This car is expected to make its debut sometime in 2019 and in a larger sense will be the first real GLE Class. The current car is what would have been the facelifted version of the older ML-Class SUV. We can see that this vehicle will be a bit sleeker and sportier compared to the current GLE.
It will be offered in a variety of petrol and diesel engines of which both are expected to have multiple hybrid options and 4MATIC AWD as standard. Our sources also suggest that Mercedes-Benz will field a base RWD variant to compete with the likes of the new base model BMW X5.
This is an important car for Mercedes-Benz in the Indian context. And so we can expect that they will get it here six to eight months after its global debut and through the CKD route to keep major costs in check.
