      New Fiat Linea 1.9L In January 2010

      Fiat is ready to launch a face lifted model of the Fiat Linea with a 1.9L engine in India. Fiat will unveil the new model at the New Delhi Auto Show 2010. Currently, Fiat Linea is powered by 1.3L diesel and 1.4L petrol engine. Now Fiat intends to add punch to the car by making it more powerful and give it significant presence in the C segment. "We are keen to showcase the more powerful Linea at the auto expo," said Rajeev Kapoor, one of the top managers at Fiat India Automobiles.

      Fiat has a range of powerful diesel engines to choose from --- 1.3 litre, 1.6 litre and 1.9 litre. Fiat Linea has already clocked 10000 sales figure since its launch in January 2009. From 2010, Fiat will also start exporting Linea and Punto to various overseas markets. It has already started its exports to South Africa with 250 units already shipped. "We will in the first phase cater to the neighbouring markets of Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan and then look at markets such as New Zealand and Australia," Kapoor said. Fiat’s export target stands at 3200 units and 10000 engines for next 12 months
