Exterior
The front fascia of Linea is much noticeable thanks to its designed radiator grille, which is bestowed with a lot of chrome treatment. The bumper is fitted with a wide air intake section and a couple of fog lamps. At the side profile, one can easily get his head turn because of features designer wheel arches that are beautifully fitted with alloy wheels. The outside rear view mirrors are painted in body color.
Interior
The inner cabin of Fiat Linea is significantly spacious and exudes a feel of modernity. It can easily accommodate five passengers and has a host of features, which can make the trip rememberable. In Linea, the Italian auto maker has offered features like driver's seat height adjustment function, rear seat armrest comes with a glove box and cup holders. However, these advancements are not offered as a standard feature across all trim levels. There is an advanced music system that keeps the occupants entertained all through the journey. Apart from the abovementioned features, there are remote keyless entry, latest Blue and Me system, electrically adjustable outer rear view mirrors and tilt adjustable steering wheel.
Coming to the design of interiors, it has been beautifully carved and gets a new dashboard that houses a center console, steering wheel and instrument cluster. The instrument cluster of Linea has several notification meters like door ajar warning, tyre pressure monitor, hand brake signal and low fuel warning lamp.
Engine and Transmission
As far as technical configuration of this model is concerned, the Italian auto company has left no stone unturned to make Linea a role model in its segment. The car is available in 2 engine options, petrol and diesel, and both are performance based. The petrol variant comes equipped with a 1.4-litre engine, which churns out a maximum power of 112.4 bhp with a peak torque output of 207 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel variant is incorporated with a 1.3-litre powertrain, which pumps out 91.7 bhp of highest power and 209 Nm of maximum torque.
Performance and Handling
Coupled with decent power output and five-speed manual transmission system, the diesel version of Linea attains a top speed of 165 kmph. Along with this, the car attains a speed of 100 kmph from standstill in just 13.8 seconds. On the other hand, the T-Jet petrol version achieves the same feat in around 11.14 seconds with a top speed of 170 kmph. The FIRE petrol engine propels the Linea to clock a top speed of around 160 kmph with 0-100 kmph in just 15 seconds.
Braking System
Along with a decent output, the Linea is also blessed with a decent braking mechanism. The T-Jet Active version is featured with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which ensures a smooth braking and no skidding even at high speeds. Along with, the proficient suspension system of this car ensures that it remains stable and balanced even in non-favorable driving conditions.

Linea has a special fire prevention system that ensures that all the passengers are safely removed out of the car in case of fire. Other safety features of Linea include double crank prevention system, driver seat belt warning light, ABS and brake assist.
Verdict
Fiat Linea is said to be proper fun-filled car to drive with its designing elements shared from a Maserati. The overall drive is good, while the T-Jet engine is fast, but noisy. Its diesel engine seems more practical than the petrol mill. As far as performance is concerned, Linea can be said as a Punto with a boot. Notably, at interiors the auto maker has applied too much chrome to pull the attention of audience. The quality of plastics used at interiors has improved over the years and the current generation model of Linea got something really good in terms of it. In terms of handling, Fiat Linea is actually a loving car in its respective segment with full of functional appliances. As far as practicality is concerned, it has a huge boot, decent space at second row, auto headlamps & wipers, airbags, ABS and rear AC vents.
Competition
Fiat Linea happens to be a cosy car and thus great enemies in the market. Considering its price range, the car efficiently square off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki SX4, Honda City and Toyota Etios.
Pros
- Spacious interiors with ample space for legroom
- Nice ground clearance
- Braking and suspension mechanism is commendable
- Simple but classy exterior design
Cons
- Fuel economy is not up to the mark

Linea Expert Review
Long Term Report Review
After living with it for over three months, I’ve had to wave goodbye to our Fiat Linea 125S. Since it joined our long-term fleet, the 125S has spent most of its time within the city limits. In fact, it’s been a fitting companion to my 50-odd km daily commute – the 125bhp, 1.4 turbo petrol motor is fantastic, with the kind of tractability that makes driving around town stress-free.
Whether simply running errands or blasting down the expressway during the frequent Mumbai-Pune trips, the 125S never failed to raise a smile. Yet there was more to this Fiat than a spacious cabin and punchy engine and this final report will highlight the positives and a few negatives of this C-segment sedan.
Overall, the Linea clocked nearly 5,000km (4,863km to be precise) since it arrived in March – a fair mileage for what’s basically a performance-oriented, turbo petrol vehicle. Predictably, it didn’t miss a beat throughout the whole stint; however, the 125S isn’t without its flaws.
In all our previous tests of the Linea, we have highlighted the car’s odd driving position and the 125S is no different. The rather large steering wheel and the pedals are too close to the driver and even though the former can be adjusted for height, I cannot raise it as high as I would like.
Now on to some positives: the Linea’s ‘big car’ feel doesn’t simply extend to its relatively large dimensions. As I found out driving it over Bombay roads nearly every day, the Linea is extremely refined (with just a hint of tyre noise) and its ride quality, too, is remarkably composed. And while the narrow opening for the boot somewhat hurt practicality, the 500-litre capacity meant there was always enough room to accommodate luggage for the whole family.
Over the 4,800-plus kilometres that I did, most of which within the city, the Linea averaged a mere 9.5kmpl. Combine that with its 45-litre fuel tank and you are looking at a realistic driving range of 427km between fill-ups which is right about decent when you consider the driving thrills on offer. As for reliability, I’ve had no issues to report. Nothing broke or fell off throughout my time with the Linea and that’s despite the frequent presence of a hyperactive Labrador in it. In fact, the only time I lifted the hood was to refill the washer fluid and that’s about it.
All in all, the Linea 125S has proven to be seriously fast, comfortable and a little offbeat family sedan. The seats, too, are accommodating and the big 500-litre boot adds plenty to the car’s practicality. It’s just a shame that the rear headroom is a bit tight (thanks to the sloping roofline), the cabin isn’t ergonomically laid out and the touchscreen infotainment is slow to respond and feels ancient (compared to the units in rival models).

How to solve milage problem in FIAT LINEA
Whats GoodLINEA is one of the best in class I have owned till now looking to the price range in which it falls and the amenities it provides. However a lot of users are expriencing milage problem in all the versions of LINEA. There are 3 simple rules to be followed to get out the best of the fuel you put in LINEA and I am pretty sure that it will never disappoint you: 1. Get your soul serviced once in an year or in 15,000 kms. run at Company Service Station. (Note: As the car is completey electronically controlled by the CAR Operating System, do not visit any road side service stations.) 2. Drive your CAR between the RPM Range of 2300 to 2700 to get the most fuel efficiency. (Do not run above 3000 RPM Mark to avoid carbon deposition in engine.) (When on highways instead of applying sudden brakes do shift to neutral a few meters so that the fuel consumption decreases and car moves through the distance.) (When in city drive in office hours (heavy traffic hours) do not take a gear shift higher than 3, on clear roads 4.)(5th gear is meant only for highways in Linea.) (Do make sure your clutch paddle is completely released while driving.) 3. Do use normal diesel and not turbo jet or other diesel as your engine can easily digest the regular food meant for it. Your Car is no less than a Luxury Car, take care of it at every moment and it ll give you all the comfort you desire.
What Can ImproveDefinitely an elongated clutch depress is a something to be taken care of while driving. Company should improve on this.
Overall, a perfect piece of engineering with good mileage and comfort at low annual maintenance cost. Trust me on FIAT LINEA before you go for any money spending.

I purchased fiat linea on 2nd may 2013 XXXXXXXX, Register No. XXXXXXXXX. Six month old car has been driven 5000 KM, also completed one free service as per fiat guide line. I took this vehicle to long drive from mumabi to Akkalkot near solapur of Maharashtra, However Coming from Akkalkota my vehicle gave clutch problem, immediately I called up road assistance Help line, I enquired about any service center availability in solapur or nearby (it was Sunday 29th dec. 2013,) I got information there is no service near Solapur and they promise me to toe the car to nearby service Center which was Pune and it was 300 km away from my driving location, I was traveling with my Family and I was 500 km away from my home destination. It was embracing situation I have to wait Four hours till the arrangement of toe vehicle to lift my vehicle but question of family how to take them to My final destination. Finally as per the instruction I drive my car towards Pune , driving car on lonely high with My family in break-down condition was nightmare. I realized Purchased of this vehicle because it was One lakh cheaper than other Brand, which I compared before Purchasing was wrong decision , Driving on lonely highway with family was big risk the value of money was negligible in that situation. With god blessing I could reach up to Pune with speed of 40 to 60 KM. My Vehicle totally break down near Pune and I called up road assistance for lift the vehicle up to Nearest Service Center, as it was Sunday service center was closed. I arrange Private Vehicle for My family for further journey toward Mumbai. Road assistance toe my vehicle to Pundit Auto – Pune I stayed back Pune for that night and called up next morning Pundit auto and check status about of my vehicle, response from service center was just they have opened the break down car and it will take time to analyze the fault. I came back to Mumbai and went directly to the Dealer and argued about the faulty and Unreliable product they have sold out, they help me to sort out the issue and give concession in repair cost. I waste two days and money in this incident. One question in mind is why we purchase the vehicle, because we love our family and always worry about their safety and comfort Now automatic light on/off in Dark is not working after servicing, gear functioning is doubtful , Now I have Parked my Vehicle in garage as show piece . I posted above issue to Fiat and received response from Company is that Such defects are purely due to clutch riding & not any manufacturing defect . I am driving vehicle for last 10 years, having enough experience of driving in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra, when I sensed the problem I called up Help line and enquired about service center ,because of non- availability of service center in nearby, I forced to drove vehicle up to 300 KM and result into clutch burnout. Could not anticipated merely 5000km run vehicle will arise with clutch problem. They are not accepting poor service network. They are happy in stating that special favour of goodwill gesture for replacement of burnt clutch assembly –part.
55000 Kms Review
Whats GoodA sturdy vehicle with excellent comfort and mileage. My car has been extremely well used and apart from servicing it ever 15000 kmts, there is no expense on it. I have not had any problems with engine, suspension, gearbox, or any electric part till date. My driving delivers a steady 16-17 kmpl in the city, while on highways its easily 20-22. There were minor issues such as the wind screen washer motor giving way, but nothing major. From an engineering perspective the 1.3 MJD engines are now proven to be reliable and strong. A wonderful car, now even at a better price. Loads of tech stuff on the car :- Follow me lights, rain sensing wipers, blue & me, auto headlamps, etc...
What Can ImproveWhat makes a car good and what makes it great? While this discussion draws endless debate, no car ever made is perfect, the laws of physics and Maslow, make it all the more harder for any single person to love a particular car for eternity. Hence I submit the following : The linea inspite of its stunning looks fails to provide a stable spares back up, the turn around time for any bodywork, etc has been not less than 1 week, this principally attributed to its spares supply chain. The nearest authorised service center for me is about 25 kmts away. The earlier models had extreamly low ground clearance, this made it impossible to drive with 4 passengers in a monsoon intensive city like Hyderabad, I have learnt that the more recent models have best in the class ground clearance now. The 1.3 MJD engine being frugal did create a lot of drag and wind noise on highways, over 140 it appeared to be "over worked" understandable because of its relatively smaller displacement. The low beams are insufficient for even city use. If you are a careful, balanced and safe driver, this car will bring you more smiles through the miles. The more you use it the more you love it.
I love the linea, its not about driving a car its about driving it in style :)
