      India-bound Renault Lodgy MPV teased

      Renault, the French automaker has released the first image of the Indian-specific Lodgy MPV. With the Lodgy MPV, the company will make its entry into the growing compact MPV segment of the country. This compact MPV will rival against the likes of Honda Mobilio and the Maruti Ertiga, and is expected to be launched by the early 2015. The vehicle has already been spotted testing several times on Indian roads.

      The India-bound Renault Lodgy gets a chrome rich grille, which is also offered on the Duster SUV. The grille has been complemented by large sweptback headlamps. The boxy shape, helps to offer spacious cabin, is clearly visible. It will get feature rich cabin while sharing several features with with Duster SUV. The compact MPV is likely to get beige coloured dashboard, circular air-vents and chrome treatment.

      The Renault Lodgy MPV will be manufactured at the company’s production facility in Chennai. It is larger than its closest rival- the Mobilio and Ertiga, which could give the MPV a competitive edge. The 7-seater utility vehicle is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 7 to 10 lakh. Likely to be offered in the diesel version, the MPV will be powered by the same 1.5-litre dCi motor that also powers the Duster. That said, only 85PS version of the engine will only be offered with the MPV coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox.
