Hyundai India has introduced a new trim CX to the line-up of its C segment sedan Verna. The new trim will fill the slot between EX and SX models of Verna. Petrol variant of CX is available for Rs 8.07 lakh and the diesel version is being offered at Rs 9.28 lakh (ex-showroom price).
Mechanically there are no changes, the petrol version of CX is housed with the same 1.4 litre gasoline engine powering the rest of the petrol trims of Verna. The 1.4 litre petrol motor pumps out a top power of 105 Bhp and peak torque of 138 Nm. Diesel CX is also powered with the 1.4 litre motor that produces a maximum power of 89 Bhp along with 224 Nm. Both the motors are mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
A volley of comfort features have been added in the CX version including steering mounted audio controls, climate controls, parking sensors, alloy wheels and reversing camera screen integrated with rear-view mirror. Among the safety features, anti-lock-braking system, rear disc brakes, driver airbag can be seen.
Of late the company had added some features to the high-end models of Verna sedan including projector head lights with LED daytime-running lights, restyled alloy wheels and illuminated switches. With the new Honda City garnering immense response, a new addition to Verna line-up comes as no surprise. Lack of diesel version had dimmed City’s sheen which had been ruling the C segment for years. In 2011, Verna launched itsFluidicVerna that receivedunparalleledresponse toppling City from its position, however with diesel Version City on sale competition has again become stiffer.
