      Hyundai India opens 'Automobile Servicing Training Centre' at Government ITI, Ulundurpet

      Hyundai Motor India Foundation has cut the ribbons of an 'Automobile Servicing Training Centre at Government ITI, Ulundurpet. Reportedly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Hyundai Motor India Foundation and Management Committee of Government ITI, Ulundurpet, in order to establish a cutting edge Training Centre in the premises of the institute. At the inaugural ceremony, both the parties expressed their plans of setting up 10 more Automobile Servicing Training Centres at different ITIs, near Tamil Nadu by the end of 2013 with the help of Hyundai Motor India Limited.

      Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Trustee of Hyundai Motor India Foundation and Chairman of the Institute Management Committee, R Sethuraman was quoted as saying, “HMIF has been associated with this institute since 2008. In the last 5 years, we have renovated the facilities and ensured professional management of the institute. We have constructed a hostel which can house 100 students and improved other facilities like internal roads, lighting, provided learning kits etc for a wholistic development. Some of our engineers have been empanelled to conduct theory and practical classes on an ongoing basis to facilitate real time interactions with working professionals. We believe that this association has kept students abreast of the latest developments in the industry and will help in the long run.”

      Ribbons of this training centre were cut by the Joint Director of Directorate of Employment & Training, C. Ravichandran, in the presence of Executive Director (Administration) at Hyundai Motor India Limited, BW Ryu. At the ceremony, Ryu donated a Hyundai Eon to the Principal of ITI Ulundurpet, Arumugam for training purposes. At the occasion, Ryu said, “HMIF’s philosophy is to bring sustainable benefits to society through empowerment and real time training. Partnerships such as these help in increasing employability of graduates.”

      Interestingly, the course of this training developed by the centre will be a part of the Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV) trade's syllabus. This new course will expose the trade trainees of MMV to the modern technology of automobiles, which is expected to increase their chances employment and career prospects. Till date, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation has employed around Rs. 1 crore in the development of ITI. This investment has been made I addition to the other significant education initiatives like providing learning aids, lab kits and computers to schools, assisting young rural girls through nursing assistant course, donating used cars and engines to colleges for researches, among others.
