According to a report, Honda Cars India (HCL) will launch the much-awaited BR-V compact SUV in the first half of 2016. Expected to be priced around Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh, the Honda BR-V will rival the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Mahindra TUV300. Just so you know, the Honda BR-V is the third product to be developed by HRAP (Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co Ltd.). The vehicle had made its global debut at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

The India-bound BR-V will be available in two engine options – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel – that could be paired with an advanced six-speed manual transmission and a CVT (continuously variable transmission) gearboxe. While the former offers a maximum power of 120bhp and 145Nm of torque, the latter one is good for 98.6bhp and 200Nm. Coming to the dimensions, the compact SUV measures 4,455mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,650mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,660mm. It features a high ground clearance (over 200mm) that will certainly help with the handling and performance of the car.

Features on offer are a six-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, electrically-operated ORVMs, third row seats with 50:50 spilt option, dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), etc. The compact SUV comes with seven-seat configuration, and rides on 16-inches alloy wheels.
