The made-in-India sportscar Avanti from DC Designs has finally been launched in India at a lucrative price tag of Rs 35.93 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Pune). The vehicle was first unveiled more than three years ago at the 2012 Auto Expo Event held in Delhi. Speaking more on the occasion, Dilip Chhabria, founder and head of DC Design, said, “We are proud of the fact that it is indigenously designed and developed in India for Indian customers and for Indian roads. It's now a car that the young can aspire. Usually when you're young, you can't afford a sports car. But with this, we are trying to reach out to the young aspirants to be able to afford a sports car because in other countries the sports car is a huge segment by itself”.
The Renault sourced rear-mounted 2.0-Litre, four cylinder, turbo petrol engine, mated to six-speed manual transmission generates about 250bhp of power at 5500rpm and 340Nm of torque at about 2750-5000rpm. The vehicle has an electronic limiter that restricts the top speed to about 200km/h. The DC Avanti clocks a 0 to 100 km/h in just about 6 seconds.
As for safety, the DC Avanti gets Electronic Brake Distribution, ABS system, 20-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes on all four wheels. The vehicle is offered in shades of Tan, Grey, Red and Black. Interested customers can book one via DC Design dealerships located in Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Pune, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Raipur, Surat and Lucknow.
