After being spotted for a couple of times across the country, FiatPuntois set to be launched in India in the upcoming month. Sources have revealed that Fiat India could launch new avatar ofPuntoin domestic market by August. Christened, “Punto Evo”, the company has started dispatching hatchback to Fiat outlets. This is the second tweaked offering from Italian auto maker in India, prior to this the company had launched modified Linea sedan in the beginning of this year. Updates given to the newPuntoinclude cosmetic changes primarily; there has been no change in the engine configuration of the hatchback.
Cosmetic changes include modifications made to the exterior and interiors of the hatchback like a set of redesigned head lights, front grille seems to share resemblance with the one equipped in FiatViaggiosedan, tweaks have also been made to the bumpers, alloy wheels and tail lamps. The hatchback will now be made available in a new orange body color.
Changes made inside the cabin will be similar to that of refreshed Linea sedan, therefore we expect scanty changes will be made inside the cabin. Petrol range of the hatchback will be offered in two engine options- a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre petrol engines. The 1.2 litre petrol engine is capable of generating 68 PS while the 1.4 litre mill churns out 90 PS. Diesel trims will be packed with Fiat’s robust 1.3 litreMultijetdieselpowertrain, however the engine will be offered in two states of tune-76 PS and 93 PS. A five –speed manual transmission will be mated to both petrol and diesel variants.
Stagnancy in Fiat’s sales has led the auto maker to overhaul its portfolio in India, besides rolling out revivified version of Linea andPunto, launch ofAvventuracrossover andAbarth500 is also on cards. Both the new products will be introduced in India during festive season.
