The two new vehicles soon to be launched by Tata Motors-Zest and Bolt have been one of the most talked about cars in India this year. Ever since their debut at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year, both the vehicles have been snatching attention. Tata Motors for last few years has not introduced any new product in the domestic market, hence this makes the duo highly anticipated. While Zest is being pitted as a completely new model, Bolt is claimed to replace Tata’s ageing Vista hatchback. A new series of engine, Revotron has also been developed that will not only be powering these two new cars but will also seen in the future products of Tata. No matter how popular other segments become in India, demand for hatchbacks is unlikely to fade away. Bolt is being tested aggressively all across the country, though the vehicle was supposed to be launched closely after the launch of Zest but it seems that Tata has deferred the launch for year end. As we all know competition in B segment is extremely high, therefore the company has worked meticulously on the new Bolt hatchback to make a viable offering. It has been learnt from sources close to the development that Bolt will feature new design language to give a fresh appeal to the vehicle. In the front, a new grille based on Tata’s ‘Humanity Line’ will be equipped meeting seamlessly with the head lights. Inside the cabin, inclusion of a new steering wheel, reworked instrument cluster, redesigned AC vents, silver trim inserts is expected. Some segment first features are also among the most prominent provisions to look forward to- a five inch infotainment system, HARMAN designed infotainment and audio acoustic system, newly designed navigation system and few more.

Power will be supplied by the newly developed 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine that is good for 90 PS and 140 Nm. There is also an option of driving the car in three different modes-City, Eco and Sport. Diesel range of Bolt will be armed with the tried and tested 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine powering some of the most popular vehicles in India. The engine will be offered in two states of tune-75 PS and 90 PS. Besides a manual gearbox, an automated manual transmission will also be offered on the hatchback which is currently available only on Maruti Celerio hatchback in domestic market.
