The Indian unit of US based leading car maker General Motors, is all set to roll-out the much awaited diesel version of its Beat hatchback in the Indian market in next few weeks.
The new Beat diesel will not only offer a cheaper option to the buyers who are looking forward to buy a diesel run car, but also enable the Beat series of cars to compete more promptly with strong competitors like Ford Figo, Maruti Swift and Volkswagen Polo.
The car will come powered by a 1.0L diesel engine and is claimed to deliver a considerably high mileage of 24 kmpl. The car is expected to be shelved in the competitive price range of Rs 4 to 5 lakh. The car is expected to drive high volumes for the company in the Indian market.
In a recent statement given by Sumit Sawhney, vice-president (sales, marketing and after-sales),“A lot of research and development work has gone into building the engine which is specifically developed for India. It will feature a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency. We are planning to unveil the car by the end of this month.”
