      Bajaj Platina facelift launching soon

      Bajaj Auto is aiming to launch a series of new motorcycles in the country this year. Apart from the much-awaited Pulsar 200SS and 160 NS, the homegrown two-wheeler maker is also planning to launch the updated version of the Platina. It is expected that the Platina facelift will go on sale this quarter, while the 200SS launch expected in second quarter of 2015.

      The new Bajaj Platina will be powered by the same 99.27cc air cooled engine that churns out a maximum power output of 8.2PS at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 8.05Nm at 4,500rpm. This engine is clubbed to a four-speed gearbox. The engine is likely to be tuned to offer more fuel efficiency. The new model is also expected to get slightly tweaked exhaust pipe and body panels. The graphics will be new and it is expected to get new exterior shades as well.

      The new Platina has been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian roads. The vehicle is likely to share its styling and lighting system with the current model. The braking system comprises of drum brakes, while alloy wheels will be offered as standard. The company will introduce new paint scheme, but the exact details are yet to be revealed. The current model is priced at Rs. 37,044 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra), and the new model is likely to be priced in the same range.
