The car measures about 890 kilogram in weight and has over 22 kmpl mileage in Japanese conditions. MR Wagon boasts a R06A model number petrol engine with a maximum displacement of 658 cc. Moreover, it exists in both turbocharged and aspirated version.

When it comes to performance, the turbocharged generates a power of 60 hp and a torque of 97 Nm. The naturally aspirated version produces 54 hp power and peak torque of 64 Nm. It was earlier rumoured that this car will give a tough competition to Tata Nano. However, the company has revealed that it has no plans of launching it in India yet because of the high price.

R C Bhargava, Chairman Maruti Suzuki said, "The K cars will not be launched as they will turn out to be too costly for India. The customers here usually associate the engine capacity with the price of a car while buying." He also made it very clear that these small cars are not at all like Tata Nano. These are quite sophisticated and feature aluminium engines. Bhargava further added, "We want to ask customers what they would ideally want to pay for these cars." The base variant of Tata Nano is available in market at a price of Rs. 1.36 lacs.

The cars were kept to attract consumer feedback depending on which the decision on the production status would be taken.
