The German manufacturer, Audi was spotted testing the stretched version of the popular crossover, the Q5. The car spied in China is expected to be christened as the Audi Q5L.

In spite of wearing a camouflage, the test mule revealed an elongated rear door. The length of this rear door is evidently longer than the one on the standard variant. The upcoming Audi Q5L is also expected to have a longer wheel base than the current standard car on sale which has a wheel base of 2820mm. The stretched wheel base will result in a roomier cabin with more legroom for the occupants of the rear seat.

Apart the elongated wheel base, the Q5L is expected to stay identical to the standard Q5 with similar styling on the front as well as the rear. The source of power for the stretched crossover is expected to be the same with a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 252bhp and a 2.0-litre diesel motor producing up to 174bhp.

The Audi Q5L could be launched after the facelift Audi Q5 goes on sale. When launched, the Q5L will compete against the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLC.
