Mercedes-Benz is going to unveil the facelift of its entry-level sedan – the CLA, tomorrow. The facelift will be the first major update for the CLA since it was launched in India last year.

What can we expect from the new Mercedes-Benz CLA facelift

The CLA facelift will only receive cosmetic updates, while the mechanicals of the car are expected to remain the same. The front bumper is redesigned and now looks similar to other cars in the Mercedes’ line-up. The rear bumper too is reworked and now incorporates bigger chrome exhaust tips, and gloss finished black bumper inserts. The car also receives all-new alloy wheels. The headlamps are tweaked with the new shape of the projector housing and the LED is redesigned. Tail lamps are reworked as well.

On the inside, the COMMAND infotainment system has been updated with the latest connectivity software like Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The centre console and the instrument cluster is also updated. The car will also have new leather upholstery with contrast stitching. The feature list includes standard airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control system, engine immobiliser, cruise control, rear-view camera, electrically foldable wing mirrors, leather seat upholstery, and rain sensing.

The CLA facelift will retain the same drivetrain, so the engine options are a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 134bhp of power and 300Nm of torque, or the 2.0-litre petrol unit producing 181bhp and 300Nm. Both the engines are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The AMG variant with 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol is expected to follow later. The AMG spec produces 355bhp and 450Nm mated to a seven-speed DSG and has a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

The entry level sedan from Mercedes-Benz competes directly with the Audi A3 in the Indian market. The CLA facelift is expected to have a slight hike in the price tag when it is launched in India
