German car maker Volkswagen has been making headlines recently for its future plans on manufacturing new vehicles. Now, a report by Autocar UK, the automaker’s project for production of budget cars is going well and the firm will be taking a substantial step forward. It is being said that the engineering department of Volkswagen have come up with a set of budget components, which will be fitted in both a sedan and Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
As of now, limited information is available on this development as reports suggest that it is work in progress. However, some sources claim that if Volkswagen chooses to go ahead and release cars from this project, the models would be launched in the Chinese market only.
The project has been a challenging one for Volkswagen and understandably so. The use of inexpensive components in cars has given rise to non-completion of cost targets and some executives have been doubting the fact if these models are worthy of the Volkswagen moniker or not. Experts feel that such problems are bound to arise when a manufacturer as well-reputed and big as Volkswagen is involved.
Some reports have also claimed that Volkswagen shall manufacture these models for the Chinese market only owing to the intense competition that exists there. Outside China, the firm is not likely to launch this project as it is known as a premium vehicle manufacturer.
