      Volkswagen India registers massive growth of 67.30 per cent in October

      At a time when most car makers in India have registered a decline in sales, the Indian unit of the largest European car maker Volkswagen has registered a sharp surge of 67.30 per cent during the month of October. The total sales of company in October 2010 were at 4,343 units, as per a statement given by the company on Tuesday.

      Speaking on the occasion, Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Neeraj Garg said, "Our action model strategy has once again proved to be very successful, with the Polo and the Vento Breeze being a huge attraction for customers during the festive season."

      The mass segment cars including compact hatchback Polo and sedan Vento remained highest contributor in the company’s sales during the month by selling 6,814 units. Both Polo and Vento are performing considerably well in the Indian market. The hatchback Polo is giving a tough fight to the competitors like Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20 and Honda Brio. On the other hand, the mid size sedan Vento is giving its competitors a run for their money. The major competitors of Vento include Honda City, Maruti SX4, Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta.
