Volkswagen has contributed a plethora of new generation automotive techniques right from dual-clutch transmissions to as far as W-shaped blocks of engines. Also, the Volkswagen Group does not believe in the fact to leave while it is still ahead in the race. Instead, it believes in taking itself higher up the ladder. This intention was definitely portrayed at the 2014 Innovation Workshop. A plethora of new developments has been scheduled. Among them some are really inspiring and will require constant hard work from the Research and Development team of the company. Among these developments, the most noteworthy are a high-performance diesel engine and a ten-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

It is a known fact now that Volkswagen has introduced some really powerful engines in some of its models like Audi Q7 V12 TDI and VW Touareg V10 TDI. Touareg had a power generation of 309 horses with a 553 pound-feet torque. Audi Q7 boasted of an impressive 493 hp power with a 738 pound-feet torque, which was sufficient for powering a jet save the larger cylinders. If that was what we got from the engine, it is astonishing what the new engine will be capable of.

The 2.0 litre twin-turbo diesel engine in the Passat was also knocking at 236 horsepower; however, this has been further boosted to 268 horsepower. The torque generation might be as high as 450 pound-feet. The real catch is the ten-speed dual-clutch gearbox. VW has launched six-speed and seven-speed models, but ten-speed is definitely outrageous, to be precise. There is no official word, when it will hit the production sector, but the R&D team is definitely, on it.
