Volkswagen’s new compact sedan, which is likely to be called as Ameo has been spotted on test with clear set of images. This new compact sedan from the German automaker will be making its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. The new compact sedan is based on the Polo platform and it will be under four-metres. The Vento has been trimmed from the front and rear, and even the wheelbase is reduced to that on the Polo.
The Volkswagen Ameo will have daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamps and most likely a new front and rear design. The compact sedan’s interiors are also revived and it has touchscreen system with GPS and reverse parking camera as an add-on the compact sedan. Volkswagen could add more airbags on the top end variant as well.
The Volkswagen Ameo will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. There could be the 1.2 TSI along with automatic transmission that could be offered in the powertrain options. The Ameo will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Ford Figo Aspire. This is one fast growing segment and Volkswagen will not want to miss out on an opportunity to compete in this segment.
