Nissan has launched the 2017 Terrano in the Indian market for Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the Japanese automaker’s flagship SUV and has now undergone its second major upgrade in less than a year. However, this time around, the update is quite comprehensive and covers a large number of changes.  It is available across five variants and two engine options and here is our break-up of each variant in the Terrano family.

      2017 Nissan Terrano

Nissan Terrano XE petrol and XL diesel (Rs 9.99 lakh)
These are the base variants for the Terrano and the only price point where you can have a petrol engined variant of the Terrano. It is a 1.6-litre unit producing 103bhp/148Nm of torque with power going to the front wheels via a five-speed manual.  The diesel is the 15-litre K9K unit producing 84bhp and 200Nm of torque.
In terms of features, there is very little separating both the variants with the diesel model getting a slight upper hand thanks to electrically foldable ORVMs and adjustable rear head rests. The petrol version does not get a music system while the diesel XL variant gets an 2-DIN music with a CD player, AUX-IN, Bluetooth and steering mounted control. On the safety front, these variants get only a driver’s side airbag.

Nissan Terrano XL D (O) Rs 11.92 lakh
This is the mid-level variant for the Terrano range. Priced at Rs 11.92 lakh, this variant can only be had as a diesel and that too in the 85PS state of tune. It will be a choice for those who want some of the frills, but without having to spend too much cash.  In addition to the features of the standard XL model, you also get silver finish for the roof rails and side sills, chrome door handles, touchscreen infotainment system and Piano black finish for the centre console. On the safety front, this variant ups the ante by offering dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

Nissan Terrano XVD 110PS Rs 13.60 lakh and XVD 110PS AMT Rs 14.20 lakh
By now, we have reached the upper echelons of the Terrano range. The additional Rs 1.68 lakh over the XL variant gets you leather upholstery, anti-pinch windows, reversing camera and cruise control. Finally, the XVD AMT is the same as the XVT manual but with a six-speed AMT and is priced Rs 60,000 over the manual model. The engine option here is the 1.5-litre K9K producing 108bhp and 245Nm of torque.
