To keep abreast with the growing competition in the mid-size sedan segment, Maruti Suzuki India plans to give yet another tweak to Swift Dzire. The company’s flagship hatchback Swift will also undergo a makeover. Both the facelift versions of Dzire and Swift are speculated to be launched during the festive season. However, rumours were on rife that the tweaked versions will be rolled out during the 2014 Auto Expo, but to everyone’s disappointment it did not happen. Though, Maruti did create a buzz by launching its new hatch Celerio and exhibiting the upcoming Ciaz, SX4 S Cross and Swift Sport at the grandiose event.

Mid size sedan segment will soon witness new entrants from the clan of Hyundai and Tata Motors respectively. The compact sedans from both the manufacturers will be launched by mid 2014.Ford India is also working on Figo compact sedan, the company recently unveiled the concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. We expect the Figo compact sedan to be launch by either end of 2014 or at the beginning of 2015. Honda’s Amaze is already garnering good sales every month and poses a strong threat to its competition.

Coming to Maruti Swift hatchback, the renewed version has already been launched in the global markets like Japan and Europe. The new additions in the reworked Swift include LED daytime running lights mounted on the fog lamps, a refurbished front bumper and the LED treatment lasts upto the rood mounted stop lamp at the back. The high end trims of Swift are expected to come with 16 inch alloy wheels. MSI might add a new metallic colour, Boost Blue Pearl in the line up.

On the interior front, the car might get an auto-up one touch function to the driver’s side power window, electronically adjustable side mirrors, automatic head lights and a new upholstery for the seats. Swift Dzire is also likely to flaunt similar additions; however, there will be no changes on the mechanical front. Both cars will continue to be powered with the same engine line-up- a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.3 litre Multi-jet diesel engine.
