Upcoming Bentley Continental GT and GTC spotted testing

Bentley’s Continental GT and GTC has been in the market since 2001 and the recent sightings at the Nurburgring affirms the brand’s objective of replacing the current generation in the near future.

On inspection, we noticed that there’s an extra layer on some of the body panels which hints that the true design is actually lurking underneath. Bentley’s new iteration of the Continental GT and GTC is predicted to be underpinned by the MSB platform that’s currently shared with the Porsche Panamera.

Power for these models is expected to come from a series of engines, one of which could be the Volkswagen Group’s new 600bhp 6.0-litre biturbo W12 version that debuted in the Bentley Bentayga, and the 542bhp 4.0-litre biturbo V8 motor from the Panamera Turbo.

There is speculation that the hybrid setup from the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid that uses a biturbo 2.9-litre V6 with an electric motor could also make it to the upcoming models with mild revisions to suit the application. Bentley is expected to introduce the coupe version in the second half of 2017 and the convertible could follow in 2018.We will have more information in the months to come so stay tuned to CarTrade.
