      Two new special editions of the G-Class from Mercedes-Benz

      Special edition G-Class

      The first-ever SUV from Mercedes-Benz, the G-Wagon was introduced way back in 1979 and has never received a major overhaul. This time around, Mercedes-Benz has introduced two new special edition models of the G-Class. The special edition units have been introduced to clear out the last of their inventory before it is replaced by a facelifted or a next generation version. The new "designo manufaktur" Edition is available for the Mercedes‑Benz G 350 d and the G 500, while Exclusive edition is offered for AMG G63 and G65.

      The special edition SUVs are available in shades of designo magma red, designo mystic white and obsidian black. To distinguish it from the standard versions, the vehicles get blacked out exterior design elements which include five-spoke 19-inch AMG wheels, mirrors, a spare wheel cover, three grille louvers, and other exterior additions. The “designo manufaktur” edition, includes the Exclusive package, Sport package with the Exterior Stainless Steel package, and the Chrome package as standard. This means that the special edition vehicles get quad side-pipe exhaust tubes, a stainless steel under-guard, dark aluminum rub strip inserts, and AMG sport stripes on the sides.

      With regard to the interior, the special edition vehicles get sporty highlights in black designo nappa leather with colour-coordinated red topstitching. The cars also get a matching AMG Performance steering wheel with two-tone rim in classic red/black colours. Along with red designo seat belts, the cars also get black leather grab handles in the roof liner and the exclusive "designo manufaktur edition" badge on the centre console. The vehicles are available with 3-liter, six-cylinder diesel or a 5.4-liter V8 options. The G 350 d and G 500 designo manufaktur edition is priced at €109,878 (Rs 76.94 lakh) and €121,683 (Rs 85.20 lakh), respectively. While the AMG G63 and G65 Exclusive Edition start at €163,125 (Rs 1.14 crore and €287,658 (Rs 2.14 lakh).
