The bookings for the diesel version of the Jaguar XE have started today. The entry-level luxury sedan can now be booked at a nearest Jaguar retailer.

At present, the Jaguar XE is only offered as a petrol variant that gets the 200bhp 2.0-litre mill. The new diesel version will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel unit producing 178bhp of power and 430Nm of torque. This mill also belongs to the brand's newly developed Ingenium engine family.

Jaguar had first introduced the XE for the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2016. From then, only the petrol version is available in Pure, Prestige and Portfolio trims. We can expect the new diesel version to also get the same variant line-up. Also, the carmaker is expected to bring the diesel XE through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route like the petrol version meaning a competitive price tag.

Rohit Suri, JLR India managing director said, "In the past one year, Jaguar XE has gained immense popularity and success in the Indian market and we are now pleased to offer the choice of diesel to our customers."
