When it comes to choosing scooters in India, the most sold varieties are Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter, both of which have performed pretty well in this segment. Despite being in a highly competitive segment, these two models have outperformed the rest and risen to feature among the top models in India.Having a more or less similar appearance, of the same price range and a mileage that is of the same order, these scooters have been pitted against each other to find the best. However, both the scooters have a number of advantages and disadvantages that make them almost equal.
The Activa, one of the best-selling models from Honda gives a mileage of around 50 kilometres per litre. It is powered by a 109 cc 4-stroke engine that makes for a comfortable transition on to the roads. Maximum power output is slated at 8 Bhp at 7500 rpm. The maximum torque generated is at 9 Nm at around 5500 rpm. The top speed achievable for this scooter is 95 kmph, which is fairly high in this segment. The acceleration is fairly high as well and it takes 10 seconds to clock 60 kmph from zero. Kick and Electric start is provided for ignition. The fuel tank capacity is 5.3 litres with reserve capacity of 1.5 litres. The 145 mm ground clearance makes sure that the engine and other machinery is protected even on bumpy roads. Exclusive suspension techniques and braking modules have made this variety one of the leading choices when it comes to 110 cc segment scooters.
Jupiter, an exclusive production of TVS is powered by a 109.7 cc four-stroke, air-cooled, single cylinder engine. The maximum power output is of 8 ps at nearly 7500 rpm. The maximum torque of 8 Nm comes at 5500 rpm. Mileage of TVS Jupiter is slightly higher at 55 to 60 kilometres per litre. Top speed is again at 95 kmph, which makes it at par with Activa. The acceleration is relatively higher as it takes 7.2 seconds to clock 60 kmph from ignition. The self-start and kick start are both incorporate, which is again a standard in this segment. The 5.3 litre fuel tank capacity allows it to hold the same volume of fuel when full. With a higher ground clearance of 150 mm, it fairs better when it comes to protection of machinery on uneven roads. The tyres and brakes used in this model are identical with those of the Activa.
