TVS Motor Company, the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer is looking forward to capture the third position in the nation’s ever increasing two-wheeler market. Riding high on back to back launches in the running financial year, the company expects to make a breakthrough in the list of top three manufacturers in the country. In this context, the company has the scooter Zest in the pipeline and renewed variants of the Victor and Apache models. Currently, it is behind Hero MotoCorp, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India and Bajaj Auto in the existing two-wheeler market.

Recently, an Annual General Meeting was organised where Venu Srinivasan, the Chairman and Managing Director of the TVS Motor Company was present. The success story of recent models from TVS like Star City and Jupiter has forced them to reschedule the release of Victor and Zest. However, their target is to release a new model every three to four months in succession. Also, the company is willing to export their models to various parts of the world. The markets of Africa, South America and Indonesia have a promising appeal and TVS looks forward to tap these potential markets. In this context, he also commented that they were expecting a turnaround by the company’s Indonesian subsidiary. Recently, it had a poor run in the market but this year might as well be the turnaround for the Indonesian counterpart.

This company is counted among the leading sellers of two-wheelers. Among the popular models are Jupiter, Apache RTR, Star City, Wego and Victor. The brand has witnessed a stark growth of nearly 34.82 per cent in the running financial year on the basis of their scooter and motorcycle sales. In the same period, the number of two-wheelers sold was 314699 units, whereas in the running fiscal, it hiked up to 424307 units. On the contrary, the sales have risen up by a fair margin in the running calendar. When calculated, the total number of units sold the April to July quarter was at 5014522. Riding high on the increased sales, it is expected that the company will look forward to topple its closest competitor and secure the third position in the Indian market quite soon.
