Toyota Etios Liva, the much awaited compact hatchback in the country, is now all set to hit the Indian roads in the last week of June, said a senior company official on Monday. It is to be mentioned here that the Liva hatchback was previously scheduled to be launched in the country in the month of April 2011, but due to the production cut after the recent earthquake in Japan, the launch of car was rescheduled to June.
The Etios Liva hatchback will be launched in the price segment of sub Rs 5 lakh where it will be fighting with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ritz, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Micra. The Liva hatchback was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in the month of January 2010 where the car had attracted a large number of car enthusiasts and visitors.
Interestingly, Toyota’s arch rival Honda is also gearing-up its small hatchback Brio in the same segment, by the last quarter of this year. The Brio model will be rolled-out in the same price segment as Etios Liva and will further strengthen the company’s position in the Indian market. Incidentally, both Honda and Toyota will be marking their debut in the small car segment with the launch of Brio and Liva, respectively.
