Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian division of Japanese auto maker, seems to be preparing for the launch of a hybrid model of its Camry sedan in the domestic auto market before the end of 2013. It must be noted that the Indian buyers does not have a penchant for the hybrid models as both Toyota Prius and Honda Civic has received a lukewarm response from the market. However, Toyota has framed aggressive plans for the launch of its new model and is looking ahead to locally assemble the Camry Hybrid in the Indian market. The assembly of this model is expected to commence parallel to the 2.4 litre petrol model.

Along with a hybrid engine, the upcoming Camry from Toyota will feature a number of visual changes and decals, which will distinguish it from the normal model of the sedan. Reportedly, the front bumper of Camry Hybrid has been completely changed and it now has a wider air dam and redesigned fog lamps with chrome work. The front grille also flaunts a strip of chrome. Also, the 17-inch alloy wheels of the model will add to the side profile of the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Industry experts further said that the rear portion of hybrid Camry will not be much different from its petrol sibling, except for a badge reading Hybrid.

Sources close to the development process have stated that the auto maker has pinned high expectations from its new model as it is planning to sell somewhere around 20-25 units of Camry hybrid in a month. Reportedly, these figures indicate almost 5 to 6 per cent of the total sales of Camry model in the Indian auto market.
