The German car manufacturer launched the all new Volkswagen Jetta on 17th August in Mumbai. This new model was first launched in Europe, earlier this year. In April, Volkswagen launched another luxury model named Passat. This new diesel variant is available in both automatic and manual transmissions and expected price range starts from Rs 14.1 lacs. In contrast to this, it would cost about Rs 18 lacs to get a fully loaded Jetta.

In comparison to the previous model, the new Volkswagen is 90mm longer with redesigned interiors and endowed with a muscular appearance. Nitin Garg, the Director of Volkswagen India, stated that "With this new car we expect to improve our market share even though the market is not expected to grow very fast this year because of high inflation, fuel prices and interest rates”. However with this launch Volkswagen hopes for a positive response.
