In a recent development that took place, Hyundai Motors released teasers of facelifted version of its new Elantra on the Internet. Elantra, a sedan manufactured by the South Korean auto maker, is also known by the name of Avante in several markets. It must be noted that Elantra has been one of the most successful cars for Hyundai Motors all over the world. According to reports, in the initial stages, Hyundai is planning to launch the 2014 facelifted Elantra in the South Korean market only. The sedan is scheduled to be unveiled in the South Korea on 24th of August, 2013.

Industry experts have termed the release of new Elantra teasers as a good ploy by the company to build the hype around the car. Currently in its fifth generation, the Hyundai Elantra was first showcased in 2010 at the Busan Motor Show. Teaser images of the new car have revealed certain additions that have been made to its design. The exterior of 2013 Hyundai Elantra features a new front bumper, revised tail lamp, alloy wheel designs and LEDs (tail lamps and head lamps). It is being said that the upcoming car will also come with park assist function for a superior driving experience.

Sources have claimed that the new car is likely to be equipped with a turbocharged diesel powertrain. However, no confirmation has been given by the auto maker that this engine would be the same as the 1.6-litre unit used in the Verna and Accent. On the other hand, industry experts are of a view that this, in context to the Indian car market, is not likely to make any impact as a variant with the same specification is already present.

Reports have suggested that the possibility of 1.8-litre petrol engine being retained is quite high. In terms of transmission, the Hyundai Elantra is likely to continue with the 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission options. The interiors of new generation Elantra are expected to get an upgrade, making it more comfortable and spacious. Although no official confirmation has been made, it is believed that the 2014 Hyundai Elantra is going to be unveiled globally at the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show.

Industry experts in the Indian auto market feel that it would not be long before the new Hyundai Elantra is launched in India. A trend has been spotted in the past, wherein a car introduced by companies in Southeast Asian markets is launched in India thereafter. Reportedly, Hyundai Elantra has received a positive response from critics and buyers in the Indian car market. Notably, the previous generation model of the Elantra was not able to create a name for itself; however the inclusion of fluidic design by the South Korean auto maker proved to be beneficial and turned the tides in the favour of sedan.
