After grabbing attention at the Asia’s largest motor show, Auto Expo held in India in February 2014, home grown auto maker, Tata Motors has now displayed its upcoming hatchback, Tata Bolt at the 84thedition of Geneva Motor Show. Tata exhibited the same prototype of Bolt hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show that was showcased at the 12thAuto Expo. Keeping India the production base, Tata Motors plans to ship Bolt to international markets like Europe. In India Bolt hatchback could be launched by the end of third quarter or beginning of fourth quarter this year. However, the Europe bound Bolt will be modified suiting the European conditions. Sources reveal that the Europe bound model could get some tweaks on the front.

Mechanically Europe bound Bolt will not vary from the India-spec model. Expect same set of motors powering India and Europe-spec Bolt. A 1.2 litre petrol engine with a maximum power output of 83 Bhp along with top torque of 140 Nm will be on offer. Diesel variants will be equipped with a 1.3 litre multijet diesel powertrain belting out a peak power of 89 Bhp. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via five speed manual transmission in both the versions. The newly developed automated manual transmission will also be offered in the India bound model in petrol version first followed by the diesel version later. Inside the cabin, a five-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity and few other exquisite features will be embedded. Other vital features that Bolt hatchback may boast of include an upgraded suspension, a new speed sensitive electronic power assisted (EPS) steering with ‘Active return’ function among others.

Despite being present in the hatchback segment for years, Tata Motors could not leave a trail. Not just hatchbacks but Tata’s future products are also expected to come with distinctive features in the coming Time.
