      Tata Nano now available for direct sales across India

      Tata Nano, one of the cheapest cars in the world, will now be available for direct sale at the company showrooms across India, the company announced on Monday. So far, the car was available for direct sale only in 12 out of 28 Indian states. The move has been taken in a bid to boost the dwindling sales of the car in the Indian market.

      A per a statement give by company on Monday, “We are announcing open sales for the Nano in all states.” With the direct sales opened across the country, the Tata Nano model will now be available off the shelves at company’s all 874 sales outlets across India.

      In December 2010, the company sold a total of 5,784 units of Nano in the Indian market, accounting a 60 percent increase when compared to the sales of the same period last year. Before this, the Nano sales dipped to mere 509 units in November 2010, a sharp fall of 85 percent from the sales peak of 9,000 units sold in July 2010.

      Earlier last month, the company had offered an extended warranty of 4 years/ 60,000 kms to all existing and prospective Nano buyers under this new “Happiness Guarantee” scheme.
