Tata Motors is planning to open bookings for its ultra-cheap car once again as it begins clearing its backlog for the Nano. According to unconfirmed reports, the dealers have been asked to start taking bookings for the model but there is no official announcement to the effect. “We have already received many queries from customers who want to buy Nano before Diwali," a dealer in Central Delhi stated. Recently, Tata Motors had opened bookings for Tata Nano in Kerala on account of festive season last month where it had received a roaring response.

Tata Motor’s mother plant in Sanand for Tata Nano is slowly becoming fully operational and is expected to run on full capacity by March next year. This means Tata Motors will have annual production capacity of 2,50,000 units by next year. The company is already expecting to complete the first one lakh bookings before October 2010 and looks forward to start making fresh deliveries starting from the festive season.

Tata Motors has already announced that the fresh bookings will be taken with new prices and the one lakh price will no longer be available for the next round of bookings. "A formal announcement will be made in this regard," said Tata Motors spokesperson Debasis Ray. "The diesel version is far off. The launch will not happen this year at least," he stated further when questioned about the diesel variant.
